Student Code of Conduct

Rules and Regulations

Whenever a candidate for admission to the MBBS course at Monno Medical College (MoMC) is qualified and follows all formalities to get admitted into the first year of MBBS at MoMC, he/she is considered a student of MoMC and has to follow some general rules of the institution listed below.

  1. Definitions:
    1. Student—If not otherwise mentioned, ‘Student’ means student of MBBS course at

    4. Authority—if not otherwise mentioned, ‘Authority’ means controlling authorities of the MoMC; for singular meaning, it is to mean the Principal of the MoMC, and for plural meaning, it means the Academic Council or the Governing Body of the

Misconduct—these are the activities and mannerisms of the students that are against the discipline and not allowed to do as a student of MoMC, and usually, disobeying any set rule and regulation of the MoMC and MoMCH is considered as ‘misconduct’ and is punishable. The degree of punishment is suggested by the Disciplinary Committee of the institution.
  1. Dress code & makeup:
    Students of MoMC must wear well-cleaned and well-pressed comfortable formal dresses with formal shoes.
    1. Fashionable and/or tight-fitting dresses, untidy hairs, and slippers/sandals are discouraged in the classes;
    2. Ornaments, rings, and Bangles are discouraged, as they cause impediments to work in the class sessions, especially the practical classes.
    3. Unnecessary make-ups that makes a student difficult to identify and hides the natural complexion and appearance is strongly prohibited;

  1. Carry Identity Card:
    For all formal sessions (classes, examinations & other extracurricular shows and activities), students are to carry their ‘Identity Card’ duly signed by the Principal, MoMC.
  2. Attend classes:
    All the students have to attend classes with the recommended dress code and makeup. They must wear white aprons with their respective names tagged on the left upper front side of the apron. In case of inability to attend a class due to valid reason(s), an application must be made to the principal of MoMC through the relevant department.
  3. Environmental cleanliness:
    The students are encouraged to keep his/her surrounding environment clean. They must use and encourage others to use wastepaper baskets/dustbins nearby—throwing waste in the environment is a misconduct.
  4. No Postering:
    Sticking and/or hanging posters/banners over the facilities of the MoMC and MoMCH is prohibited. These are considered acts of ‘misconduct’ and punishable offenses.
  5. No Smoking and Addiction:
    Smoking and/or taking any alcohol, narcotics, or addictive drugs is strictly forbidden on the college and hospital campus. Anybody found doing the forbidden act(s) or carrying the forbidden item(s) is/are considered as misconduct and is/are punishable.
  6. Obstacle to Functioning:
    Closing of the gate(s) or door(s) of the college and/or of the hospital department(s) creating obstacles to the normal functioning of the institution(s) are the acts of gross ‘misconduct,’ and students involved in such acts are liable to be punished and even to be expelled from the institution.
  7. No Demonstration:
    All types of demonstrations, processions, and shouting in the College and/or Hospital premises are prohibited and student(s) involved is/are liable to be punished according to severity of the offense.
  8. Inform us of your problem:
    Students may inform their problem(s)/grievance(s), if any, to the Secretary of the College verbally or with a formal application to the Principal. The secretary then may try to solve the problem of the students on his/her own. In case of failure, the secretary will inform the appropriate authority accordingly. Any act of ‘indiscipline’/‘misconduct’ on the part of any student, including usage of abusive or objectionable words and sentences, shall make the student liable to be punished, which may even lead to expulsion from the college.
  9. Love staff/officers:
    Students are encouraged to love staff/officers supporting the MoMC and MoMCH offices. They must not misbehave with any staff or employee of the college or the hospital. Misbehavior on the part of any student is also considered as the act of ‘misconduct,’ which is liable to punishment.
  10. Bond at admission:
    At the time of admission into the MoMC, the students and the parents/guardians shall have to sign a bond that their son/daughter/dependent shall abide by all the rules and regulations of the college and the hospital.
  11. Procure books & logistics:

    In case of illness of the student(s) or any other unavoidable reasons for no attendance, a written valid statement from the parents/guardians is to be submitted to the teachers concerned, who in turn will submit it to the principal for approval.
  13. Realize losses:
    The cost of loss or damage to the college/hospital/hostel property caused by any student is liable to be realized from that student responsible for the loss and damage.
  14. No Politics:
    Political activities are not allowed within the college campus.
  15. Use Library:
    Students are allowed to use the library. The library card will be issued to the students only for reading in the library. Home issue of books for the students is not permitted. None are allowed to carry personal books, bags, or any other personal belongings in the library.

Conduct and Discipline for the Students

All students must abide by all the rules and regulations of the college. Non-adherence to these rules and regulationswill make the concerned students liable to disciplinary action, which may range from warning to expulsion from the college. Students in the college are forbidden to organize a union, association, or society other than that set up by the authority in order to enrich their physical, intellectual, and ethical development.

Bond/Undertaking during Admission

The candidates and their parents/guardians must sign bonds before admission on non-judicial stamps stating that they well understand the terms and conditions of study, conduct, and discipline of the college.

Rules and Regulations for the resident students at MoMC Hostels

Whenever a student has been allocated a seat in the MoMC Hostel following his/her admission, he/she will be considered as a resident of the Hostel. The MoMC authorities want all students to have a safe, pleasant, and enjoyable stay at the hostels. The authorities, therefore, request all residents to comply with the standard set of rules. Please note that there are penalties for those who do not comply with the standards mentioned below:

    1. Definitions: Unless otherwise contradictory to any existing rules and regulations in force in Bangladesh as well as at the Monno Medical College (MoMC), the following definitions shall apply for the rules and regulations for the resident students of Monno Medical College:
      1. Institution—if not otherwise mentioned, ‘Institution’ means Monno Medical College at Gilondo, Manikganj;
      2. Hostel means the residential buildings for the male and female MBBS students on the campus of MoMC at Gilondo, Manikganj.
      3. Rules—if not otherwise mentioned, ‘Rules’ means the rules and Regulations set forth here in this document as well as the same as modified time-to-time for better management and keeping in line with any law of the country;
      4. Country—If not otherwise mentioned, ‘country’ means Bangladesh.
      5. Students—If not otherwise mentioned, ‘Students’ means students admitted into MoMC for studying MBBS;
      6. Authority—If not otherwise mentioned, ‘Authority’ means the administrative body of the MoMC (in a singular sense, it is the Principal of MoMC and in collective sense, it is the Academic Council/Governing Body of the MoMC);
      7. Disciplinary Committee—means the committee comprising selected members proposed by the Principal and recommended by the Academic Council to discuss the disciplinary issue(s) of the MoMC to propose the best decision(s) for implementation;
      8. Hostel Super means the person assigned with the responsibilities of carrying out the duties of ‘Superintendent of the Hostels’ of MoMC at Gilondo, Manikganj, by an order of the Principal, MoMC.
      9. Assistant Hostel Super means the person(s) assigned with the responsibilities of supporting the ‘Superintendent of the Hostels’ of MoMC, Manikganj, by an order of the Principal, MoMC.

    7. Any recommended visitor must put his/her particulars as required in the visitors’ register kept for this purpose in the Hostel Super’s office.
    8. No male visitor in the Girls’ Hostel and no female visitor in the Boys’ Hostel, except the parents, is allowed.
    9. There is a strict ‘No Party’ rule for all residences; breach of this is gross misconduct and is punishable.
    10. Room checks will be conducted. Also, from time to time, it is necessary for MoMC staff to enter the residents’ rooms to check for maintenance and cleaning.
    11. Resident students are responsible for keeping their own rooms clean. Their bins must be used and kept at appropriate places for the purpose of waste disposal.
    12. Every resident has to take meals at the designated dining area of the respective Taking meals in the room(s) is strictly prohibited. During mealtime, each resident must take responsibility for keeping the dining area clean.     13. Every resident has to keep the environment calm and quiet to ensure a study-friendly campus. Especially to be careful during the quiet hours of sleeping between 10:00 pm and 05:00 am. Listening to anything on a player with loud volumes is strictly prohibited.
    14. Smoking, alcohol, narcotics, and addictive drugs are strictly forbidden in all facilities of MoMC & MoMCH. Anyone caught smoking or suspected of smoking or taking other forbidden items will be fined BDT 1000/- and may have to face penalties under the Disciplinary Action.
    15. Gambling of any sort is strictly forbidden in the hostel as well as on the campus.
    16. Possession, use, distribution, or sale of drugs is illegal in Bangladesh, and if someone is found involved in this act, they will be informed and handed over to the police, who will take necessary action.
    17. Any resident may be asked to moderate his/her behavior if deemed not to be acting in a friendly and appropriate manner towards other residents.     20. Possession of knives and other weapons is illegal and strongly prohibited. Anyone caught possessing knives and/or weapons will be handed over to the police for necessary action.
    21. In MoMC and MoMCH facilities, the common electrical voltage is 240. Any resident must not interfere with the electrical supply within the facilities and ensure his/her appliances’ electrical requirements are compatible with 240 volts.
    22. Use of electricity for ironing, hair drying, electronic media, or heating elements (Induction Cooker, Rice Cooker, room heater, etc.) except for authorized ones, as well as use of air coolers/conditioners or refrigerators, is not allowed inside the

    24. Residents are responsible for any damage to their room. If no one claims responsibility for the incidence of damage, the cost of their repair will be equally penalized among the residents of that accommodation.
    25. Health and safety are the responsibility of all residents of the hostel. Each resident has to report any issues regarding his/her health to the caretaker.
    26. Every resident student has the right to attend the common room for watching television programs and playing indoor games as per availability. However, every resident must have patience and honor the choice of the majority. No outsider is allowed to stay in the common room for any purpose.
    27. Every resident student has the right to exercise in the gymnasium with available facilities. No personal items for this purpose are allowed to be installed inside.
    28. In no way will students and interns be allowed to possess any motorized vehicles within the campus.

International Code of Medical Ethics

All medical students should follow the international code of medical ethics. Medical ethics should be the part and parcel of a medical student as well as a doctor. The Oath of the Hippocrates and Geneva Declaration must be known to every student of Medical Science. Please keep in mind your own religious/ social belief corresponding to the ‘Hippocrates oath’ if the oath carry any conflicting issue.
