Department of Anatomy
Prof. Dr. S. M. Nurul Hassan is a distinguished academic and seasoned medical professional currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at Monno Medical College since 2013. He obtained his MBBS & MPhil in Anatomy from Mymensingh Medical College under the University of Dhaka and enjoyed various posts from lecturer to professor at different esteemed nongovernment medical (CBMCB, BMC, UAMC) colleges of Bangladesh. He also took part in teaching postgraduate students. Dr. Hassan remains engaged to conduct undergraduate and postgraduate examinations under the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh Medical University, Chattagram Medical University and Bangladesh University of Professionals. He is also engaged as part-time faculty of medical colleges in Bangladesh. He is nominated as a question setter & moderator of undergraduate & postgraduate medical examinations and fellowship examinations conducted by BCPS. He is very popular for teaching medical embryology in a lucid manner by applying his own approach. He also has a keen interest in the field of research on the morphological and histological studies of kidneys in Bangladeshi cadavers.
Dr. Hasan was a keynote speaker in an educational workshop financed by DGME and organized by the Anatomical Society of Bangladesh (ASB) in its conference. He is a life member of ASB and many other medical associations in Bangladesh, where he tried to contribute that organizations. He is enjoying academic & administrative charges since 2007. Dr. Hasan is a peer reviewer and one of the members of the editorial board of journals published by Monno Medical College. At least 17 articles on the human kidney, placenta, thyroid gland and heart have been published in different recognized and indexed medical journals. He attends as a member, conducts as a chairman in scientific seminars organized by medical colleges & the Academy of Family Medicine under USTC and also is an invitee of national & international forums of medical science. He secured a letter of appreciation from the teacher council as chairman for pursuing the Phase-I MBBS course efficiently.
Since 1998 with decades of teaching experience and a deep commitment to medical education, he has played a pivotal role in sharing the foundational knowledge of countless medical students of both home and abroad. He is renowned for his academic leadership and dedication to student membership. Dr. Hasan continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of anatomical science and the overall academic excellence of the institution.
